Participants: 14 Learners from DIJA’s “Latvian Pastry Traditions with European Touch” programme, accompanied by 2 staff members and 5 Greek learners.
ErasmusLearn Training Center is a certified lifelong learning centre, accredited and licensed under the supervision of the competent authority of the Greek Ministry of Education. Crete was chosen as the destination in part due to its significant international recognition in the field of gastronomy — in October 2024, the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT) awarded Crete the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2026.
For learners from the catering sector, this provided an exceptional opportunity to experience and study Greek pastry traditions first-hand, working and learning alongside Greek learners, trainees, and professional pastry chefs, while developing their vocational skills, English communication, and intercultural competence.
A second group of DIJA learners followed the same programme structure — collaborating with Greek learners, trainees, and chefs, visiting traditional bakeries and professional workshops, and preparing pastry products together. Participants deepened their vocational knowledge, gained intercultural experience, and returned with greater confidence to continue their training at a professional level.
